Had a great time with Gillian & Ben at Freswick Castle for their engagement or pre-wed session. I explained to them that the priority of these sessions isn’t to get fantastic images but to get to know each other and for them to get to know the way I work with my clients so it will be more relaxed on their wedding day. As it happens we did get some great shots of this camera shy couple.
When we arrived it was fairly windy and there were a few spots of rain but thats what you expect in Caithness at any time of year! We took shelter in the archway into the castle grounds and started by taking some photos there and then when the rain eased and the wind dropped a little we ventured into the courtyard and then down to the shoreline.
Freswick Castle is a retreat for creatives, they have had many artists, authors, poets and sculptors staying and one of their guests created a stunning piece of landscape art called EKKO made from ancient stones found on the grounds of the castle.
I can’t wait for Gillian & Ben’s wedding on Hogmanay, its going to be wonderful but I think we will be chasing the light in the middle of winter.
